All You Need to Know About Production

November 16th, 2008 by mainman

The objective of any business firm is to maximize the difference between total revenue and total cost. This requires among other conditions that the firm purchases and combines factors inputs in such a way that the total cost of producing any particular level of output is the lowest possible figure, given existing technological and institutional conditions. The word production means manufacturing.

Production in the wide sense includes other activities that do not imply manufacturing of physical commodities. This is because the manufacturing of such commodities will be useless until they get to the consumers who need them for their satisfaction. This includes the process of getting goods manufactured to the final consumer such activities includes transportation, distribution and marketing. In addition , services which does not involve the “creating” of physical goods but which goes into adding to the satisfaction or utility of human beings are included in production and all these lead to the satisfaction of consumers and therefore, they are all part of production. A production process is the set of all activities that are required to convert a set of inputs (human resources, raw materials) into desired output such as finished products and services. Production therefore is the conversion or transformation of input into desire output.

WHY YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THE KEY ASPECT OF FACTORY PRODUCTION

There are major key aspects or let me say types of production namely: job production, house insurance quotes production and flow production. It is possible that these keys speech of production are utilized in a factory at different stages of the production of a product. JOB PRODUCTION: is the manufacture of a single complete unit of a product by an operative or a group of operatives and a number of such products can be worked upon simultaneously by different groups of workers. Each group of workers will complete work on the unit before taking up another.

BATCH PRODUCTION: batch production requires that the work on any product is divided into parts or operations. And that each operation is completed through the individual units making up the batch before the next operation is under taken.

FLOW PRODUCTION: is the processing of the materials continuously and progressive. Thus, their is no idle time as in batch processing since work is complete on a unit at a stage of production, it is moved on to the next stage without waiting for the other Items in the batch. It is necessary each operation or manufacturing stage is of equal length, and there is no moment off the production line; inspection is located within the flow production line and the inspection function does not occupy more than the unit operation time, all stages are balance, the correct material, plant and equipment is provided on time and maintenance is by anticipation not default.

SEE THE TYPES OF GOODS IN PRODUCTION

The goods in production can be classified in various ways, such classification includes: capital goods, consumer goods, durable goods and non-durable goods.

CAPITAL GOODS: these are goods needed for the production of some other goods such as machines, equipments.

CONSUMER GOODS: are those goods that are needed for the satisfaction of immediate wants, such as food stuffs.

DURABLE GOODS: these are goods that can last for a long period of time and can therefore be used as many time as possible such as furniture, electronics.

NON - DURABLE GOODS: these are goods which have shot life spam and can therefore be used probably only once or a few number of time such as raw materials generally.

KNOW THE PRODUCTION FUNCTION

Supposing the maximum amount of any production that a firm can produce dotnet web hosting any given collection of factor input is determined by prevailing institutional circumstances and by the existing state of technical knowledge. The relationship between the inputs and the outputs is expressed symbolically by a production function of the general form Q=F(V1 V2 Vn) where the variables V1 V2. Vn represent quantities of various factor input and the variable Q represent the maximum output that the firm can produce with a giving set of the input variables. It is assumed that the effect of an increase in any of the input variable is at least up to some limit to increase output. It is also assumed that the proportions in which various factor inputs can be combined to produce a given quantity of output are normally variable. Cases of fixed proportions (at least among ingredients) are found in certain chemical processes; but otherwise, experience indicates that input proportions can be varied significantly with output at a constant level.

FIND OUT ABOUT PRODUCTION LIFE CYCLE

The essence of successful new product introduction of simplification may lie in the appropriate timing of the action. The characteristics of a generalizing product life cycle. The product life cycle is an important tool for analysis and planning of the market activity, it shows the trends in sales and profitability of a particular product over its life cycle. This life spam further has clearly separate stages just like the life of an individual human being.

SEE MORE ABOUT STAGES IN THE PRODUCTION LIFE CYCLE

There are four major stages in the production life cycle these are: introduction stage, growth stage, maturity stage and decline stage.

INTRODUCTION STAGE: this stage will be dominated by the need to establish the product in the market by building buyers and distributors’ awareness of the product and its benefit, consumer advertising and trade promotions will be important in this initial communication process.

GROWTH STAGE: once successfully established, the new product may begin to enjoy rapid sales growth which along with the lack of competition may make this the most profitable stage of the life cycle of the product. The growth stage should be managed so that a full demand base is built in market; there is selective building of customer demand at the expense of existing or substitute product types marketed by competitors.

MATURITY STAGE: it is essential to company profitability and cash flow that , the stage be prolonged for as long as possible for well established products and brands this should be a time for consolation in the market place is mainly concerned with market share, so critical marketing activities need to be managed. To maintain product distribution and customer access to the product, to maintain customer loyalty to the brand or product and hence the race of re- purchase.

DECLINE STAGE: ether for reasons of technical obsolescence, changes in customer or Trade attitudes towards the product over familiarity with it or the emergence of a better product elsewhere in the market; a stage may be reached when sales and profitability start a consistence and perhaps irreversible decline. Once management has recognized and accepted the inevitable, he should withdraw all expenditure on the product above its variables cost of production, and perhaps raising its price.

SEE THE PRODUCTION FACTOR:

Production factors are the agents, inputs or resources used in the process of production. Without such factors, productions may not be possible. However, it is not production factors themselves that are of much importance but the services that such factors could render in production. These production factors includes: land, capital, entrepreneur and labour.

LAND: is the earth and all the natural resources found in and on it. Such resources includes: forest, rivers, minerals and even it includes such thing as sunlight. Land is the final source of all materials because any commodity can be ultimately traced back to the land. The reward of land is rent. The term land is used in the widest sense to include all kinds of natural (as distinct from man-made) resources.

CAPITAL: could be as all forms of wealth that are set aside for the production of further wealth. Thus, capital represents the collection of wealth that are not needed for immediate consumption. Capital is also described as a derived factor because capital has to be produced before being used to produce commodities.

ENTREPRENEUR: is a person who initiates, organizes, control and directs the process of production and bears the resulting risk in the production process. An entrepreneur is the business organizer and the one who combines other factors of production for maximum output. The shapes of the curves in this figure are based on a normal distribution. The actual shape of the curve and the length of duration of the four constituent stages will of course, varies for each production or brand.

The Ideal Woman - What’s She Like?

November 15th, 2008 by mainman

Most men find women rather perplexing. Rarely do you find a man who really knows what he’s searching for and what he thinks a woman can offer him. Perhaps this can be more easily figured out by answering the question, “What type of woman is the typical man looking for?”

When asked this question, most men try to answer with some cliché, but some actually answer very thoughtfully. When it comes down to it, however, most men want the same things, even though the package may change a little to fit individual tastes.

For desirable attributes in a prospective mate, chemistry tops the list for a lot of guys. Although chemistry is hard to actually define, most men will tell you that they know it when they feel it. The search for the personal injury lawyer Las Vegas level, however, has left many men unable to maintain a steady relationship for any length of time, since there might personal injury attorneys New Jersey be someone out there with whom they would have bigger or better chemistry with.

Match.com and FriendFinder, a couple Internet dating sites, have focused on matching people up who they believe will have good chemistry. This perceived connection is attempted by matching up client likes and dislikes, which, in theory, should work. The reality, however, is that many times, these companies fail by matching two totally incompatible people. This is because personality profiles don’t tell the whole story.

So, what other factors are involved in this search for the perfect companion? Self assurance is a big one, but not to the point of arrogance. While confidence is commendable, conceit is going too far. Beauty and brains are nice, but not if a woman uses them to try and get men to melt at their feet. In fact, this type of behavior will have the majority of men running in the opposite direction.

Confidence is an important attribute for women to possess, but to most men, intelligence is equally important. Carrying herself well will take a woman a long way, but not if she can’t carry on a good conversation. After all, a pretty face is a strength, but not if it comes with the price of mental weakness. An intelligent, ambitious woman is what men want and need most.

It should not be forgotten that what men really want is a good lover. A tiger in bed is highly desirable, so men are looking for knowledgeable women these days, especially those who are more mature and experienced. This means a lot of guys are dating older women, so being drop dead gorgeous may not be the priority it once was for these men.

Many other things could be discussed here, but when it comes to figuring out what men really want in a woman, it’s clear that men want someone who is confident, independent, smart, and witty. Those women who are able to carry themselves well for both a date and a long-standing relationship are the type of women today’s modern man is really looking for.

Is Your Workplace Showing Signs of Disengagement?

November 14th, 2008 by mainman

Honing Your Emotional I.Q.
Surveys reveal that some 50 to 75 percent of employees say they will leave their current employer once the job market improves. Members of your own staff may be no exception. How you identify who may be vulnerable to “poachers,” and what you do to reinforce loyalty in a work environment is key.

It is important to recognize that the lack of employee satisfaction is not always the motivation for employees to leave. Many times, whether that employee feels engaged is critical.

Keeping employees engaged in their work environment and providing feedback has been positively linked to making employees feel like their presence in an organization makes a true difference. Engaging employees by facilitating a workplace that continuously provides opportunities for bettering oneself can make a difference that increased pay cannot compete.

Another key ingredient for retaining superstars is providing them with regular praise for a job done well. People remain engaged when they receive recognition and appreciation for their contributions. They’re satisfied when they experience open communication and demonstrated trust with their immediate supervisors, and they excel when they believe they have longer-term opportunities available to them beyond their current role in the organization.

Now that you are armed with tools of engagement, how can you identify the disengaged? Aside anti depressants conducting workplace surveys, human resources professionals believe that the disengaged can be spotted in a number of common ways. These may include identifying those who have suddenly adopted a 9-to-5 time clock mentality. Signs of disengagement can also be revealed in individuals who demonstrate an unwillingness to participate in office social events, or in those who have a mortgage quote on line to “fox hole” themselves apart from peers, or from a change in personality where, for example, someone who was normally outgoing and enthusiastic seems distant and has nothing positive to contribute.

Whether change is obvious or intuitive, if you sense an unhappy former superstar, it is safe to assume that if an opportunity comes knocking that employee will likely consider leaving simply because your office isn’t rewarding or engaging anymore. Beware of Spam Withdrawals

November 13th, 2008 by mainman

Q: I am so sick of all the spam that is sent to my business email address. I spend an hour every morning just trying to sort out the good email from the bad. I know I could just delete it all, but I’m afraid I’ll accidentally delete email that might be important to my business. Short of unplugging my computer, what’s the best solution for dealing New York auto insurance quote spam?

A: I feel your pain. I, too, miss the good old days when the only time you’d spend an hour dealing with spam was trying to pry it out of the can.

Due to the nature of my business, I get a lot of unwanted email. I’ve been working on the Internet since 1995 and my email address has been publicly exposed for most of that time, so I am a spammer’s delight. It is no exaggeration to say that I used to receive more than 400 email messages a day. Out of those 400 messages about 10% were from people I knew, 10% were from people I needed to know, and the rest were from people that I would like to track down and field dress with a very dull knife.

Spammers, they are called… the scourge of the Internet… the digital kin of the lowly telemarketer and dreaded junk mailer.

After listening to me complain about spam for months, my lead engineer burst into my office a few weeks ago and announced, “I’ve solved our spam problem! I’ve installed a spam filter on our server that will prevent spam from getting through.”

Great, I thought, now I can find something new to complain about.

I wondered what I would do with the extra two hours a day this wonderful spam filter would give me. My joy quickly waned when within a day my email went from 400 to 40. It was the saddest day of my life. Sitting there staring at my empty email box I suddenly felt very alone. At that moment I realized that not only had I come to expect the morning deluge of email, but I had come to find comfort in it. The spammers had car insurance Vermont my friends. They wanted me to get rich quick and brighten my smile. They wanted to enhance my love life with generic Viagra and give me great deals on miniature cameras, low interest loans, waterfront property, and more. And the sheer number of folks concerned about the abundance (or lack thereof) of my anatomy was incredibly heart warming.

And the ladies that sent me email were so nice. They were worried that I was lonely and offered to cure my loneliness if only I gave them a credit card number. How sweet is that?

After a few days the withdrawal symptoms ceased and I was happy to be free of the majority of the spam, though to this day I’m afraid that I might be missing out on something grand.

You and I are not alone, Anna. According to a recent study by eMarketer, the average Internet email user now receives 81 emails a day, and nearly injury lawyer Fort Worth quarter of them are spam. Spam now makes up more than 40% of all email and costs U.S. companies more than $10 billion annually. Seventy-six billion unsolicited e-mail messages will be delivered in 2003.

So how do spammers get your email address in the first place? It’s easier than you might think. While some spam comes as a result of online purchases (yes, there are companies that will sell your email address no matter what their privacy policy says), that’s just one of the ways spammers get you in their sites.

Spammers use “spider software” to crawl the web and harvest email address, so if you have a personal or company website that has your email posted on it, sooner or later a spam spider is going to grab your address and add it to the mill. Likewise when you sign up to take online surveys or receive email newsletters, you are potentially exposing yourself to spammers.

How can you reduce the amount of spam you get? Many people think that you can’t fight spam, so you should just accept it and move on. In other words, you can not fight the Borg, so smile and be assimilated into the fold. While spam is hard to eliminate, there are things you can do to lessen the amount of spam you receive and it’s impact on your daily business life.

First, stop clicking on the “unsubscribe” links at the bottom of spam emails. While some of the links are valid and will get you removed from spammer’s lists, other are actually there just to let the spammer know that your address is valid. Click the link to unsubscribe and you might actually see the amount of spam you receive increase.

Second, it’s a good idea to have at least two e-mail addresses. Use one for personal or business use, and the other for surveys and online purchases.

Third, consider installing a spam blocking software on your computer or company network. There are a variety of spam blocking applications on the market that range in price from free to a hundred bucks. Though none of them will completely eliminate spam, they can greatly reduce the volume you receive. Search the Web for “spam filter” and investigate the ones that you feel are right for you.

Your Internet Service Provider should also offer an anti-spam application, but be careful how you use it. I have a client who recently increased the sensitivity of their ISP spam blocker to the point that nothing was getting delivered to their company email accounts, including their own company newsletter. They had effectively built an email brick wall that stopped the spam and everything else. Not a good idea.

Before investing in a commercial spam blocker you might also try adjusting the email filtering settings in your email software. Microsoft Outlook, for example, lets you set rules for handling incoming mail. The same is true with Outlook Express, Eudora, and Apple’s Mail OSX. Each have built-in filtering features that can help eliminate unwanted email by parameters you set.

One thing to remember is that if spam didn’t work, it would quickly go away. In other words, if spammers weren’t profiting from sending unwanted emails they would go do something else.

Probably become a telemarketer or credit card debt collector.

Whether you use a commercial product or rely on your existing email software to filter out spam, just be careful that you don’t batten down the hatches so tight that you no longer receive any email at all.

Here’s to your success!

Yoga - Teaching With Compassion

November 11th, 2008 by mainman

Years ago, a student of mine was plagued with chronic pain in her spine that would not go away no matter what I did. She even conference call services with Iyengar instant car insurance ten years and could not get any relief. After 25 years of pain, she finally decided to go to a doctor. After a slew of tests, the doctor told her she had lung cancer, and that it had metastasized to her bones and spread throughout her spine. She had been given two months to live. I tried very hard to convince my student not to submit to the doctor’s death sentence. After all, she had had the same pain for more than two decades. Unfortunately, it was too late. She had lost hope by surrendering all her power to the doctor. Two months to the day of her diagnosis, she was lump sum distribution This example highlights the way that, as teachers, we must use our profound influence wisely and choose every word carefully. Careless words may destroy a life, whereas thoughtful words create the power to blossom.

This approach is not about hiding the truth. We must tell our students the truth that we see. However, we should avoid an inflexible attitude that says, “This is the truth and I must tell it no matter what the cost!” We must tell the truth in a way that serves the student by always reminding them of their power to cause positive change. We must balance ahimsa with satya: non-harming with truthfulness.

The language of transformation is the language of compassion. What transforms our students is not a barrage of fiery words intended to burn down their egos, but the flame of love, warmth, and care. If we have a student who is stubborn and self-important, we can’t help her by beating on her ego, for the ego, in defense, builds a hard shell around itself and becomes inaccessible. The way to transform the ego is with compassion and warmth, so the ego removes its outer coat and allows itself to be available for change.

We probably all know teachers who diminish their students because it makes them feel more masterful and aggrandizes their egos. These teachers can be our models of how not to teach. As teachers, we can ask ourselves, “Do I want to appear to be great, or do I want to help my students grow? Do I want to be the star, or do I want to create stars? Do I want to impose my pose on the student, or do I want to help my students go inside and discover their own postures? Am I serving my student or my ego?” We can’t serve both.

The art of guiding others is about knowing how to help them harness the power of their own minds and enabling them to overcome their resistance to transformation. In time, they will become attuned to inner guidance rather than being scattered and misled by external references and comparisons. We can help our students use the power of their minds to destroy or build, stagnate or transform, bury or rise, imprison or set free. Evolution is only possible with freedom.
